Member of the Month - Monica Gul

Congratulations to our August Member of the Month

Monica Gul!

Monica was chosen based on the Complete Attribute of ATTITUDE.

If you have ever been in class with Monica you know why she was chosen for the attribute of attitude. Monica always has a smile on her face, greets everyone and is so easy to coach!

She never allows circumstances to affect her effort or her positive vibes.

She has always been a consistent member of the gym with a demanding schedule and never complains.

She always works hard, moves well, and is happy to be here!

Here is more on Monica:

When did you start CrossFit and why?

I started in Norman, OK around 2015. I’ve always been passionate about health and fitness. Actually, I’m a certified personal trainer. CrossFit was something different and exciting for me, so I started!

What is your biggest motivation to live a healthy lifestyle?

What motivates me is I like to feel good! Fitness has always played a major part in my life and it has been an outlet for me to relieve the daily stressors of life. When I’m in the gym, I can focus on myself and shut out anything else happening at work and home.

What is something that people might not know about you?

That I love to dance! I really like to dance Bachata and Salsa. Being a Latina, dancing is a huge part of our culture and has always had a place in my heart.

What is a goal you have set for yourself for 2022?

My goal is to open my own business. I’m happy to say that this year, in between working full time and taking care of my family of 7, I was able to obtain my property and casualty license. So, come see me for any of your insurance needs! 😊

What is something you would like people to know about your hijab and culture?

I'm sure people have questions about my head scarf (hijab). I wasn't always using a hijab, I started wearing it in 2014. I would like to say that the decision to wear a hijab is always solely personal to a woman. And it's something I decided to do after deep prayer.

-

It's can be difficult at times since some people don't understand, stare or make comments. But, at the end of the day, I'm human just like anyone else.

-

We must always respect others religion and cultures. This is something I have always taught my children.
